What would you wear over a check shirt in winter?

I love wearing checked shirts in summer and have just got myself another one and i don’t want to wait until next summer before i can wear it, so my question is what could/would you wear over it in winter? Or will it look a bit strange?

And i really like the shirts that have a hood so if anyone knows of any good fairly cheap places to get one that would be great.

I would wear a vest (one of the winter vests that have a fur hood) over the checkered shirt and a pair of skinny jeans with boots. That will make it a winter outfit!
