What to wear to a birthday party that takes place in a restaurant?
27.November, 2009
(I am a guy) I usually wear jeans/runners/T-Shirts to parties, but my friend said that this one is in a restaurant and I should dress up nicer. What can I wear instead of jeans that is not too formal? Instead of the runners? What kind of a top? Links to pictures or products in retail stores are appreciated.
Shirt with a collar is dressier than a t-shirt.
A button down shirt.
Whatever shirt you choose, tucking it in with a belt added makes a dressier look but I wouldn’t do it if it is totally uncomfortable.
A sweater, with a light weight t-shirt under. (so you feel comfortable and can take the sweater off when your on your way home)
Pants – Dockers or similar looking pants. (No cargo pants)
Shoes should look clean. Very clean.

you can get away with jeans and a button down.. just make sure that your jeans are not "ashy".. if you really dont wanna wear jeans you really cant go wrong with some khaki colored pants and a button down or nice sweater if its not to hot

There are a lot of great answer’s here and I would agree with them. I would also call the person who is having the party and ask then how you should dress. I’m in this situation now because my husband’s 40th is coming and in May I’m having a nice dinner in a rest also. I asked everyone to dress casual, like Jean’s a nice shirt and shoe’s whatever their comfy in. It’s gonna be a surprise for my husband and I can’t dress to flash because he will know something is up. That is why I asked the quest to dress as we will be. And I want’ them to be comfortable. Some of my family is also traveling a distance so I didn’t want them to have a long trip in flashy clothes. I worked as a server in a few nice rest, and people don’t always dress flashy. If you wear jeans just put on a nice shirt and shoes to go. Enjoy your evening out.
