Installing Kitchen Cabinets Series – Part 2
In the second part of this series we will explore the cabinet layout process.
The most important step in the correct installation of kitchen cabinets takes place before the cabinets are even ordered. The kitchen must be accurately measured and the cabinet configuration needs to be laid out. Professional kitchen cabinet suppliers will usually have a computer system that will make a scalled drawing of your kitchen showing the locations of all of your cabinets and appliances as well as the locations of the door and windows in your kitchen. If you are ordering your cabinets from one of the big box stores you can probably get them to provide you with these drawings as part of your cabinet purchase. The important thing here is DO NOT TAKE THEIR DRAWING FOR GRANTED!. Review the drawing very carefully yourself. Check all of the dimensions and make sure the layout is functionally correct. Also, make sure that all of your appliances will fit.
