Before your baby is born how many pairs of clothes should you have on hand for the baby? Can you provide any specifics on clothes as to what kinds of clothes to have? I’m six months pregnant with a girl.

just a couple going out outfits; depending on weather where u are, plenty of onesies and light/heavy weight footed pjs, or long sleeve onesies with a swaddler wrap or sleepsack; most nbs prefer swaddling and i recommend the ’swaddle me ‘ wraps by kiddopotamus….i swear they are why my dd has always slept through the night; after she got older we switched to the sleepsacks and she still wears those at a year old, so we don’t have any blankets or anything in her crib….
u need a few pairs of socks
if it’s a little cool, u might want a couple pairs of pants to go over the onesies….
sometimes in the ac my dd still gets cool, so i keep a light sweater or jacket around for those times….

until baby is older, you won’t need much more than a couple outfits, bc they will probably spend most of their time in the onesies or sleepnplays (same as pjs with feet)….the number you buy depends on how often you want to do laundry….and if u use bibs…sometimes you would have to change clothes a couple times a day bc of spitup or diaper leak or poop explosion, etc…..if u don’t have you own laundry facilities, then i would suggest buying at least enough for a week, figuring in the clothes changes…i definately recommend bibs too! sometimes they save the outfit and are much easier to change…
a lingerie bag is great for washing socks and those little hand mitts to keep them from scratching their face, they don’t get lost that way….hth

"Baby clothes are highly addictive. And this is true for friends and family as well. For this reason, many well wishers will buy you clothing as gifts at a shower or hospital. After all, how can they resist the adorable bows or boats? Baby spends his first few weeks sleeping almost around the clock. Most of that time, you will decide to swaddle him in a blanket or keep him covered with a blanket. For this reason, it is not necessary to stock an entire wardrobe of Newborn and 0-3 month clothing.

Basic onesies and even the little pajamas with feet can be purchased for very little and will do wonderfully. Socks and booties are hard to keep on little curled feet sometimes, so the pajamas take care of that easily. Little babies look adorable in everything they wear, so there is no sense in dressing up a sleeping, wrapped-up baby for visitors.

You want baby to be comfortable and you want dressing baby to be as simple as possible. After all, you’ll be dressing and undressing your newborn up to five or six times a day. Keep it simple for your own sanity. Besides, they will have outgrown everything by the time they are ready for real show-and-tell anyway. Save the expensive outfits for then."

At first it is best to have easy, comfortable clothes for your baby that aren’t too fussy so to speak. So while all those dresses out for little girls are adorable and there is nothing wrong with having a few, it will be much easier to mostly have her in onesies perhaps even with shorts or pants, rompers, sleepers, etc. If your house is cool I would keep her in socks at first, a babies blood doesn’t always circulate as well as ours at first and so there feet are likely to get cold quicker. It could also be helpful to have some baby mittens on hand, not because of the temperature but because they often scratch themselves at first.

As far as how many, it all depends on how much you want to spend honestly. I went a bit overboard with my son, he had a closet full of clothes, most of which he actually never wore. If you can though I would try to have at least a weeks worth of clothes, so maybe 7-10 onesies (and maybe a couple of pairs of matching shorts or pants depending upon the weather where you are) and 7-10 rompers or sleepers, and maybe even a couple of cute dresses if you want for special times that may come up during then. Remember you will often go through more than one change of clothes a day in the beginning with possible diaper blowouts and spitting up. I would also have about 7-10 pairs of socks and a couple of pairs of baby mittens. If you decide you want to have some shoes for her at first I would get only a pair or two, mainly because their feet grow so fast, and also because they can be a hassle sometimes and you may find yourself going without them more than you planned, esp if you have some cute socks that will stay on much easier.

Hope that helps some and congratulations on your little girl!

Depending on how often you would like to do the washing make sure you have enough for about 3 outfits (onesies) a day, you will be surprised how much a baby can poop and puke. The same goes for baby wraps / bunny rugs. You dont have to worry too much about trendy outfits for a newborn as they grow so fast and will probably not even get to wear them. Stick with basics, singlets, all-in-ones etc.

It’s tough to say! You’re due in September!?
The main thing is DON’T buy too many, you have no idea how fast they grow out of things! With both my daughter’s they wore an outfit about 2x, and that was it! I would say ONE package of newborn onesies, 2 packs of 6 months, and 12 months is what you want most of. My daughters fit in 12 month onesies for awhile.
Depending on your climate and temperature, it varies for sleepwear, etc.
Newborn- 2 outfits, 2 pairs of pjs.
    0-3 months-8 outfits, 8 pjs.
6, 9, 12 month clothes seem to be what you need the most in!
My daughter whom is average for her age was wearing 9 month clothes at 4-5 months of age. At about 6-7 months she started wearing 12 month clothes, and now at 9 months she’s wearing 12-18 month clothes..like I said it varies. BUT just don’t buy a lot in newborn, or 0-3 months, they go through rapid growth spurts in the beginning! Good Luck with your baby girl!!!

Onsies atleast 2-3 per day. 2 sleepers per night. And about 10-15 weather appropriate outfits. Don’t forget the socks! Get 6-10 pairs of socks. Babies don’t seem to dirty them as fast as their clothes, so even if you need to change a onsie the socks can stay on. Bibs and burp cloths are a great way to save yourself from as many clothes changes each day. Now calculate these numbers with how often you do laundry. You will be doing a little more as soon as she gets here, but if you do laundry weekly or even a few times a week then you won’t need as many.

Congratulations! It all depends on how often you want to do laundry and how fast your little one grows ;o)

My little one was born in Autumn so I mostly used singlets and onesies for the first three months or so. She probably went through about 3 changes a day – morning, pjs and accident related (leaking nappy, vomiting etc.) So I would say about 20 singlets (the bodysuit ones are better than the others because they don’t ride up), 20 onesies, 5 sweaters/cardigans for going out, and maybe 2 outfits for special occasions.

Once they’re a bit older – still the same amount of singlets but then probably 10 x pants (no point in dresses really until they can walk – I just had a couple for birthdays etc.), 10 x t-shirts and 10 x long sleeve tops.

One of the best things my sister did was buy clothing in a whole heap of different sizes so as she got bigger I wasn’t having to constantly buy a new batch and just added to it bit by bit.
