On Project Runway, why do people whisper on the runway judging, instead of just speaking?
28.January, 2010
Does it bother you that the designers don’t speak up on the runway during judging? Do they just feel intimidated by the seriousness or something?
I hate when they whisper and what not. I always wondered that. I’m like "say something already"! Maybe they feel if they don’t say anything, they won’t be kicked off but not speaking up just might get them kicked off. I dunno, I love that show though!
What necklace is Sweet Pea wearing in the all stars episode of Project runway? Its blue tear drop stones, kind of big. I really like it, and want to purchase it!
i cant find a photo of it but to be honest … she may have made it
being a designer and all …
try etsy.com though
they have a bunnnnch of jewelry that people make and sell
How do runway fees for pilots work?
24.January, 2010
I’m considering getting my Private Plane License, and I have a few basic questions about flying.
1. How do runway fees work, and how exactly are you billed for them?
2. How do you store planes at airports that aren’t your home airport, and at what cost?
3. How are your flight hours tracked?
Well….what country are you from?
in the U.K a typical way to pay landing fees, would be to walk into the big building with the yellow flag hanging on it.
a friend of mine from australia informs that over there, the tower will write down the registration number, and send a bill to the owner <<You would pay the person who owns the plane, be it a flight school or your friend.
for number 2, this depends..here in the U.S. the "Typical" Policy is parking’s free, if you land and park the FBO will take care of your plane and hope that you put some fuel in, Overnight will cost you somewhere between 10-30 per night.
3, You log your own hours. It’s an "Honor" system, if you lie your punishment will be severe when they find you out *Revocation of Licenses*
How long of a runway Does a 2 man propeller plane need to take off?
15.January, 2010
I need to know how long of a runway would i have to have to take off or land in a 2 man propeller plane.
Just fly with American Airlines, they provide the plane and the runway so you don’t need to worry.
When does season 6 of Project Runway start?
02.January, 2010
When does season 6 of Project runway start?
I know it was moved to Lifetime but when does it start?
Unfortunately the current Project Runway which has been filmed including the Finale at Bryant Park a couple of weeks ago , is STILL tied up in court.
The Producer sold it to Lifetime and Bravo got pissed and sued. Then the Producer sued Bravo and then Lifetime sued everyone because they spent alot of money and didn’t get a show.
Meanwhile back at the ranch we don’t get to see the show and nobody knows when it’s going to air and that really bites !!!
If you want to keep on the drama and just check out other stuff about the show check out the link below. They have all the best info…

What does the runway identification of an airport mean?
19.December, 2009
I have noticed a very same runway can bear two different numbers. But two different runways can bear the same number. On the other hand, numbers are qualified with either an L or R, which I assume stand for right or left. How do they choose a number? Why it seems a two-runway airport have arbitrary – at least to me – runway identification tags?
Runway 5 indicates that the plane is landing with an approximate heading of 50 degrees. 23 would be a heading of 230 degrees.
Actually it could be the same runway, but at different ends. (Hopefully, not at the same time). The two number are always 18 (180 degrees) different.
You are correct about the "L" and "R" meaning left and right.
How do these tiny airports in the Pacific islands cope if a Boeing 737 breaks down on the runway?
04.December, 2009
I was on holiday in Tanna Island, Vantuatu and the airport was tiny. It really only a arrivals hut with a few light bulbs and that was it. One runway. So if a big airliner suddenly requires major engine work on landing there, how on earth do they repair it? Tow it to the nearest barn? There are other pacific islands and islands around the world with very limited facilities, Tanna only had dirt tracks for roads, just wondering what happens!
They clearly would tow it away and the airline would fly in engineers on the next flight to fix it.
In die hard 2 you see a plane crash on the runway and explode, it didn’t have any fuel left, is this possible?
27.November, 2009
You also see them change the runway’s height property or something like that, but an airplane can meassure altitude right?
hmm..well i went back and watched that particular segment of the movie.
The plane was low on fuel. it wasn’t out of fuel because the engines would have stopped. however, its more dramatic for the captain to say he had 230 passengers flying around on petrol fumes. personally, i don’t think the plane he was flying could hold 230 people. and jets fly on aviation kerosene, not petrol as the pilot stated.
But…even with kerosene vapor in the tanks, if you slam into the ground at 130 mile per hour landing speed, its going to amount to one heck of a large amount of potential energy. that, and the residual of just a few gallons of kerosene turned to vapor, amounts to one heck of an explosion. so its possible.
incidently, as a former OSH person, one of my really pet peaves is hearing people talk about fumes when they talk about gas or hydocarbon fuel type explosions. sure, it common veniculer to say "the gasoline fumes exploded". however, what explodes is not fumes but vapor mixed with the correct ratio of air or oxygen to support an explosion. fumes are heat or fire related particulants: vapors are the gaseous forms of liquids.
another aspect of the movie was the re-calibration of the glide slope information for the instrument landing system. when the pilot put the plane on essentially the auto landing system that used the signals from the misdirection of 200 feet difference, well good movie item also. but the planes do have a radar altimeter that measures height above the ground independent from what the auto land signals give: close proximity with the ground alerts the pilots with warning lights and sirens and god knows what else. Once again, just more plausible drama.
still a good movie.
