3 ways to avoid construction accidents
25.February, 2010
As a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles I’ve come across many horrific construction site accidents. And I feel that it’s best to try to prevent these from ever happening in the first place. So here are three tips to use to avoid injuries on the construction site:
1. It is best to avoid dangerous situations that could result in an injury, especially if you work alone. Some examples of activities best avoided include climbing ladders, standing precariously on furniture, using dangerous tools or lifting or loading heavy objects. If you must do these activities, do them when someone else is around so they can get help in case of an accident.
2. Always wear proper safety gear to prevent exposure to chemical and physical dangerous including dust, gases, noise and temperature.
3. Make sure you are properly trained before you do anything. Read safety manuals and make sure you take precautions before beginning the activity. You should be informed of all safety procedures. If you are not comfortable doing something, tell your employer about it.
Want to Know More About ESL Employment?

Online ESL Instruction: The 21st century has spawned a brand new way of learning the English language, using the internet. English can be effectively learned in an online forum. Many people have employed this strategy to great success and those that have the aptitude to teach the language in such a way can certainly procure ESL employment.
Some may have concerns regarding what qualifications are required in order to land ESL employment. It would be difficult to provide a simple blanket answer to this query because different hiring authorities will have their own individual requirements. Most qualified English as a second language teachers have graduated from four-year degree programs; in certain scenarios, however, a two-year degree can suffice. Some assume that the degree needs to fall under the category of the liberal arts. While liberal arts degrees are most definitely helpful, other degrees and concentrations can prove to be valid for ESL employment opportunities.
The best way to find an ESL job is to find an ESL placement agency or trustworthy ESL website with a job listing section. Many excellent services offer the opportunity to do such work, and we recommend looking further into these services. If you are fully capable of being an English teacher, why wouldn’t you want to become one?
UK Paralegals
30.January, 2010
Ever wonder what a paralegal does? Well lets first start with their official definitions as defined in the United Kingdom.
From the United Kingdom’s National Association of Licensed Paralegals: ‘A person who is educated and trained to perform legal tasks but who is not a qualified solicitor or barrister’.
From the United Kingdom’s Institute of Paralegals: “A paralegal is a non-lawyer who does legal work that previously would have been done by a lawyer, or if done by a lawyer, would be charged for.”
Whats the demand for a paralegal? Well in the UK there are now almost 4,000 government registered/regulated paralegal advisory firms offering services that would previously have been offered by lawyers.
Your local authority for more information is The Institute of Paralegals. This is the UK body setting national standards for paralegals, legal secretaries and other non-lawyer legal professionals working in the legal profession. They offer self regulation and certification for paralegals in England and Wales. On behalf of paralegals they also liaise regularly with government, The Law Society, Bar Council and others on issues of concern to paralegals, such as rights of audience, diversity, recognition of paralegals, terms and conditions, education and direct access to the Bar.
Hope this helps you get a head start in the Paralegal profession here in the UK.
