Teleprompter Training Tip #18: The Finished Produc
Your performance is finished and it’s time to see how well it went.
The first thing you’ll encounter watching the video will probably be your vanity. Don’t sweat it. This is a perfectly normal state of affairs for almost everybody.
You’ll probably think you look and sound a trifle strange. This is perfectly normal for a very simple reason. The view you usually see of yourself is an image reflected in a mirror, not how the world actually sees you. It can be strange at first to see your left side where you’re used to seeing your right side and vice versa.
Some camera angles can also be unflattering. You might see yourself as looking overweight or even slightly unwell.
Delivering polished performances involves self criticism. Not being negative, but constructive criticism. Assess your performance and try to remedy any distracting or awkward habits.
Don’t split hairs here. Your objective is to give a sincere, polished performance.
They say the truth is reflected in the eyes. Are you captivated by the scrolling screen or making a dull, monotonous delivery? Are you moving around? Are you breaking eye contact?
It’s all about getting an appreciation of your own performance. More importantly, do you look like you believe what you are saying?
When you are ready to bring your presentations in-house, use professional teleprompter software . . . it will make a huge difference to the success of your production.
