What do you think of hiring a interior designer for a new house?
29.September, 2009
Just bought a house, find a bit lost at how to arrange and decorate. Thinking of going to professional designer. Has any one having used interior designer before?
You mean you are not broke after buying the house? Good for you. If you have a LOT of money left over that you want to dispose of, a decorator may be your thing. They can be reeeeaaal pricey. They also like to recommend very pricey materials and fixtures. However, some are capable if doing very nice things that will make coming home to your new place very pleasant. My only sage advice on the issue is to make sure that you and the designer are on the same wave length. Make sure you find one that is into making you comfortable with what you will have to live with when they are done. Picture this: Spending a bunch of money, the job is done, and a couple of weeks later realizing that you feel like you live in someone else’s house. Some designers like to exert their artistic flair and their own tastes a little too much.
How can you tell a fake versace sunglasses from real ones?
29.September, 2009
The fakes…
1. It is poor quality
2. Doesn’t have 4 digit item number (ex. 2022), doesn’t have ‘Versace’ and doesn’t have ‘made in italy’ on the inside of the sunglasses’ arms
3. All authentic versace sunglasses should come with its original hard or soft case with dust cloth. The older hard case is white or black with ‘Versace’ written on it. The newer hard cases and soft cases are black with Medusa’s face on it
You can also ask a sales person at Bloomingdales, Macy’s or Sunglasshut to see if they are authentic.
What do women think of men that wear sweatpants and basketball shorts?
29.September, 2009
I always wear sweatpants and basketball shorts and I was wondering what women think of men that wear this. It’s mostly around campus and when going shopping. I don’t wear them when I’m going out or anything. Usually I wear the Adidas sandals (with socks) with them or tennis shoes and my shirts are usually nice (Polos). (I know weird style)
I wear what’s comfortable.
generally it looks lazy. like, comfort is nice and all, but ya gotta dress up a little sometimes
and sandles with socks is a no no
How do pilots line up with the right runway?
29.September, 2009
When they are given a specific runway that is parallel to another (rnwy 35L or 35R) how do they lone up with the left or right one?
If flying under VFR, it is simply a matter of visually determining which is which.
Under IFR you would be using a navigational aid that would line you up on the correct runway.
You can also tune in the ILS even when VFR just to be sure.
On an approach to a L/R runway set up it is quite easy to tell which is which.

What’s your favourite high-stlye designer (not just haute couture)?
29.September, 2009
I assume you know what I mean by "high-style", since it is rather vague.
Anyways, my favourites are Burberry, Fendi, and Gucci. I have a thing with patterns, lol.
*typo in title* high-style
Chanel, Narciso Rodriguez, Yuliya Zeltser
How do you make your clothes last?
29.September, 2009
So what’s the best way to make your clothes last a long time!
Some of my shirts are starting to fade in color.
I got some holes in some of my shirts. Don’t know if i hot it on something, or it’s like that naturally. Or maybe that shirt was so thin feeling, and it wasn’t that strong.
So i wear dark color clothes. I wear Black, Grey, Olive, sometimes green, brown, and that’s about it.
So how do I get my clothes to last. From the washing to the hanging and storing.
Surely there is a proper or very effective way to maintain clothes.
So what are good detergants. I just use the Costco brand detergant. THe white powderly stuff. I use cold water only. Then I put in these Costco "Kirtland" softener sheets into the dryer. I put the drying on low. Then I just hang my shirts after i get them out, and i just toss my boxers, and socks in a box. Then jeans I kind of just shake them a bit and fold them.
What can I do better?
Is there some good products that help keep the color of my clothes? Do you hang or hold the shirts after you get them out. ? what’s the best?
sorry it’s a lot of questions. i’m spending 24 dollars for each shirt. don’t know if it’s expensive, but it’s kind of a lot. so i wanna keep them for some time.
So is it bad to wash my shirts and jeans together?
I have my own washer and dryer.
I just throw in all my clothes in the wash.
My colors are all pretty dark i think.
grey, brown, black, olive, green. is that alright to wash together. i don’t wear white, and stuff. I also throw in cotton socks, and boxers.
My Laundry Story….
I am the proud owner of a "Flutie Flakes" t-shirt. For you non-Buffalo Bills fans, Doug Flutie is a well and fondly remembered second string Bills quarterback…oh, just look up the history yourself!! The shirt in question is about 10 years old, bright red, with "Flutie Flakes" emblazoned across the chest area. I wear it often, and no matter if I am at a Bills game or the local gas station I always get favorable comment.I’ll miss that shirt, but it still has a few good years left…Here are my tips!!
#1. Do not wear your favorite shirt, etc, if you plan on eating greasy, messy stuff like wings, etc. If you DO get greasy stuff on it, treat clothes with a stain removal product like Spray n Wash BEFORE throwing it in the washer!! After that; do NOT throw it in the dryer till you are sure stain is gone.
#2. Dryers are hard on clothes. I hang mine outside on the clothesline, inside out to prevent fading. Also this gives you a second chance at stain removal if you missed a spot!!
#3. I use whatever laundry soap is on sale. I have no idea if brand matters, and I always use cold water except for towels. I also never use fabric softener of dryer sheets, but if you live in an area with really "hard" water you might need to.I do not know if those things affect the life of your laundry.
#4. Clothes come out of the dryer (if you use that) or off the line fairly wrinkle-free, and if you hang them or fold them well you can avoid using the IRON–a time-consuming pain in the butt!!!!
Good luck, hope I helped!!
Does anyone know of any designers that will make wedding dresses without the train?
29.September, 2009
I have only found one dress maker that gives you the option of changing their dresses and that is Casa Blanca. They allow you to eliminate the train, change the neckline, add sleeves, etc. Does anyone know of any other designers that will do this?
Thanks!
I don’t know of specific designers, but I went to many bridal stores that told me if I found a dress I like that I wanted slight changes to (like the neckline, hem detail, etc) it was easy to have altered after I order the dress. It’s also possible to add sashes and extra beading details to most styles of dresses, as long as you order them far enough in advanced.
In terms of eliminating the train, I’m sure this is also possible when you sit down with the store to order your dress. Most wedding gowns you purchase from smaller/private bridal stores are "made to order" from the suppliers since it is costly for designers to keep hundreds of of pre-made dresses in warehouse that might not get purchased. That is why it takes so long to have a dress ordered, and why most bridal store don’t offer refunds … once you order someone is making that dress for you, so you can’t cancel that.
That means you have a lot of customization that can be done to a dress at the time it is ordered. I almost ordered one and they told me I could even change the colour of all the beading!
How do you remove sunscreen smell from clothing?
29.September, 2009
I use regular Tide detergent on the normal cycle in my washing machine, but I can not get the sunscreen smell out of my clothes. No matter what I do, they still smell like sunscreen. Especially the neckline of shirts. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get this smell out of my clothing so I don’t smell like a beach bum when I wear these clothes again?
my husband is a chef and we have found that the only thing that takes the kitchen smell (he works at a seafood restaurant, btw) is Tide with Febreeze. i think you can get a Febreeze additive for the laundry, too. i do all of our laundry in Tide with Febreeze – and our clothes smell like fresh laundry. hope that helps.
